UX / UI CASE STUDY . 2026

unsaid

Designing a judgement-free AI conversation experience for people who need a place to say what they can’t say out loud.

ROLE

UX Designer / UX Researcher

SCOPE

Research -> Prototype

PLATFORM

Responsive Web

01 / CONTEXT

The problem wasn't a lack of answers.

People sometimes want to talk about personal thoughts or situations but may not feel comfortable sharing them with friends, family, or colleagues.

Existing AI tools can provide answers, but they are often designed around questions and tasks rather than creating a comfortable space for self-expression.

“How might we make AI feel less like a tool you ask questions to — and more like a space where you can simply talk?”

02 / GOAL

Make starting the conversation feel effortless.

The goal was to create an AI conversation experience that feels approachable, supportive and easy to use.

// 01 . Empathize //

// 02 . Define //

Frame the users need clearly.

// 03 . Ideate //

// 05 . Test //

03 / RESEARCH

Design around the human behind the prompt.

User research surfaced a simple tension: people may want to talk, but fear judgement, discomfort or not knowing how to begin.

Emotional Hesitation

Users may avoid talking about personal situations because they don't feel comfortable sharing them with people around them.

Conversation Friction

The experience needed to reduce the pressure of knowing exactly what to ask or type.

Situation

A problem starts weighing on him.

Hesitation

He does not know who to talk to.

Opening

UNSAID gives him an approachable starting point.

Conversation

He can explain things in his own words.

// PERSONA //

Daniel

“I have a lot on my mind, but I don’t know who I can talk to without feeling judged or becoming a burden.”

Daniel feels overwhelmed and unsure who he can safely talk to about what he’s going through. He may keep his thoughts to himself because he doesn’t want to burden others or be judged, leaving him feeling isolated and stuck.

04 / IDEATION

From rough ideas to a focused conversation flow.

Paper wireframes were used to explore multiple homepage layouts and determine how users could quickly understand UNSAID and start a conversation.

// Exploration //

Multiple homepage layouts tested different ways of introducing the concept.

// Design Decision //

The first screen immediately communicates what UNSAID does and provides one primary action.
